Packaging tips
How to perfectly pack your items
Here are some top tips we have prepared to help you make packing your items quick and organised:
- Put heavy items such as books in small boxes and light ones such as sheets and pillows in larger boxes. This way you have less chance of the boxes breaking
- Try not to leave any free space in the boxes as this will make them more unstable. You can use clothes, towels or wrapping paper to fill in the blank spaces
- To make packing and unpacking faster, do not mix items from different rooms in the same box
- Label each box with the name of the room it is intended for and write a brief description of it’s contents
- Number each box and keep a list. This is a good way to keep track of what you’ve packed and to make sure you have all of your items
- If you’re moving precious items or delicate artwork, it’s best to choose special wrapping paper that’s more durable in order to avoid damage or scratches
- Use a lot of paper to pack your plates. Wrap the plates individually then divide them into groups of five or six, wrap them together then place them in a box. Remember to put additional paper in the top and bottom of the box and to put the plates in a vertical position not horizontal
- Cups, bowls and glasses should also be wrapped individually. They can then be placed inside each other and divided into groups of three or four to be wrapped together
- If you do not have their original packaging then delicate items such as televisions might require special boxes for transporting
